Winter
at Martha's Herbary
Every season is beautiful at Martha’s Herbary and winter is no exception. Visiting this jewel of a place may be especially healing during the long cold winter. If you are looking for a way to lift your spirits and chase away the winter blues definitely stop by Martha’s and get lost in the beauty and magic of the surroundings. Upon your arrival it is well worth it to stand back and take in the beauty of the winter gardens before you. While peering out at the winter gardens one must be optimistic and see the potential before them. Remains of the fall gardens protrude out from beneath a blanket of white, birds enjoying the thistles that were left to go to seed in the fall, a statue of Saint Frances holds bits of glistening snow in it’s folded arms, bunny ears peak out of the snow and ice, as a tropical fish appears to be swimming by, half under the snow and half above. What fun! The winter garden holds so much hope. It is alive, just in a deep slumber, soon to be
awakened.
Once inside the shop there is an array of stimuli for all of the senses. Sight, touch, sound, smell, and sometimes taste are all part of the experience. The atmosphere is beautiful and serene with pleasant colors and beautiful merchandise all around. One cannot help but touch the samples of health and beauty aid products as well as the beautiful fabrics of scarves and clothing, and don’t forget to rub the leaves of the fresh herbs that are all around the shop. The tranquil sounds of garden fountains and music add a nice touch to the serenity, as subtle fragrances of potpourri, candles, and homemade soaps linger in the air.

It is utterly forbidden to be half-hearted about gardening. You have got to love your garden whether you like it or
not."
